Sunscreen Roller Blinds

Sunscreen Roller Blinds

We are committed to making the process of choosing and installing sunscreen roller blinds as easy and trouble-free as possible. Sunscreen Roller Blinds can be used in conjunction with blockout Roller Blinds or Roman Blinds to make a Day/Night Blind Combination.

Sunscreen roller blinds block out approximately 95% of the UV light. Lower cooling costs are achieved due to the reduced heat load on the interior of your home. These contemporary blinds give excellent daytime privacy whilst allowing you to see out. Sunscreen roller blinds come in a range of colours with colour coordinated chain controls, bottom rails and brackets as standard. Our friendly staff are available to help you with expert advice, drawing knowledge from the most experienced team in the industry.

Are sunscreen roller blinds the same as sun blocking roller shades?

Essentially, yes. Sunscreen roller blinds is another name for them, as well as sunblock blinds for windows. These type of blinds are unique in that they are constructed using fabric with mesh components that prevent UV radiation and offset glare from entering the room. Based on the position of windows in your home or office, the sun can do a lot of damage to furniture, and even flooring. These blinds offer a higher level of protection from harsh sun rays.

Although these blinds can provide a welcome design aesthetic to your windows, there are advantages and disadvantages of sunscreen roller blinds to consider.

Advantages

  • Translucent and transparent: That means light can easily be filtered through these blinds without the sunlight causing harm. For spaces that require a lot of natural light, being able to control the amount of light coming into the room is key. Although sunscreen roller blinds are transparent, they still provide adequate privacy when needed.
  • Sun-proof: Sun blocking roller shades help control the amount of light coming into the room, cutting the amount of natural light being allowed into the space. Due to them being manufactured with the materials of PVC and microfibre, the light coming in is not harmful.
  • UV buffer: Sunscreen roller blinds are very good at keeping out harmful ultraviolet rays, making sure people, flooring, and furniture are protected throughout the day.
  • Protection of vision: One of the greatest things about sunscreen roller blinds is the ability to see outside while controlling the amount of light that enters. This promotes privacy while still giving the room a natural look and feel.
  • Maintenance: These are very simple to clean and should be maintained every few months to ensure durability and longevity. Cleaning with a dust cloth can easily remove any dust particles or dirt, and then following up with a clean, damp cloth covered in warm water and a detergent solution will keep them looking new.

Disadvantages

  • Transparency: Although this is a plus, it can also be a negative, especially at night. These types of shades should also be used with curtains to provide privacy at night so others cannot see inside.
  • Sun-proof: Although these blinds help keep the sun out, there is still a significant amount of sun coming into the space. For individuals who want to sleep during the day, it can be difficult without additional window coverings that will keep the sun out.

Choosing sunscreen roller blinds is a great way to ensure rooms have a certain amount of light every day without interfering with daily activities. You’ll find these blinds in living rooms and in some cases, bedrooms.

Sunblock blinds are different from blockout blinds in a few ways. These utilize fabric that is transparent and helps prevent damage from UV rays. These are perfect for areas that have beautiful views to be seen without compromising privacy. Sunscreen roller blinds are great at filtering UV rays by 90% to 96%. They also help control the amount of heat coming into the room from the sun, reducing the levels of air conditioning needed to keep the space at a comfortable temperature. Additionally, they come in all types of colours and styles and have flame retardant properties. These blinds can be installed manually or motorised.

Individuals who choose sunscreen roller blinds usually like natural light coming into the room. In places where the climate is known for its heat, these blinds work well in providing light without incurring high energy bills. When using electronics, sun-blocking roller shades are also very useful in keeping the glare at bay. This helps when watching television or needing to work on a computer throughout the day.

Our designs offer contemporary and classic looks based on design preference. It is important to note that sunscreen roller blind fabric is not the same as light filter fabrics. These blinds have UV protection regardless of the colour. Light colours used with sunscreen roller blinds usually reflect light, allowing the room to absorb brightness. Dark colours used on these types of blinds can provide an easier atmosphere that offers just enough light to be comfortable in the room. It is always best to use a blockout roller blind with these blinds if seeing inside is an issue.

Common Questions About Sunscreen Roller Blinds

Below are some common questions about sunscreen roller blinds. If you require any further assistance,
feel free to give us a call on 03 9872 6700 during our business hours.

We manufacture our roller blinds using the Rollease Acmeda RB09 System. This is a premium brand within the industry and Rollease Acmeda’s premium option guarantees the best quality.

At Complete Blinds, we manufacture our sunscreen roller blinds with Uniview interior screen fabric, available in 5% and 10% openness factors. Uniview is high quality and goes above and beyond providing flame retardant, lead-free, fabric protection. It also meets the GreenGuard Gold certification for low-VOC emissions.

Our sunscreen roller blinds are manufactured using our standard heavy duty 45mm tube (Most other roller blinds on the market use an inferior 38mm tube). This aluminum tube is generally used for blinds up to 2600mm wide. We then use the “ultra” heavy-duty tube for any larger blinds. The ultra-heavy duty aluminum tube has a diameter of 48mm wide and thicker aluminum to prevent bowing. Our widest blinds are then restricted by the widths of fabric availability. Most fabrics do not span wider than 3000mm.

Sunscreen Roller Blinds provide customers with privacy during the day while still being able to maintain functionality and sight. At night, it has the opposite effect so the blockout must be put down to maintain privacy. These blinds are designed to reduce heat and glare without completely blocking out the light. Another advantage is they help protect your carpet, floorboards, and other soft furnishings from fading from the harsh Australian sun.

Yes! Motorisation is now a large part of our Complete Blinds. Our customers can choose from battery or hard-wired motors. At Complete Blinds, we use the sophisticated Automate™ brand, which has a reputation for delivering high quality and value for the money. Please check out our motorisation page for more information.
