Motorised or Automated Blinds
Having the convenience of a remote control can be useful when you’re busy with other tasks or the windows are in hard-to-reach areas.
Motorisation allows the shades to be raised or lowered, closed or open. Individuals who are bedridden or have issues with mobility can still enjoy the benefits of controlling the amount of sunlight coming into the room with auto window blinds.
Motorisation is also a safer option for those with small children or pets to avoid access to cords. With a motorised option, shades or heavy blinds can now become an option. Homes with auto window blinds can put them on a timer to open and close at certain times, making things easier if away. These blinds add an air of elegance and sophistication to any room.

What types of window treatments can be motorised?
Roman shades, pleated shades, Venetian blinds, and roller shades are all options that can be motorised. Heavy draperies are also a good solution to motorise and complement any design style you wish. There are also smart home options that may be available for motorised blinds like apps or voice-activated devices.
What To Consider
Choosing the right types of blinds is dependent on your wants and needs. We want to make sure you make the right decision that will work best for your situation. There are some challenges to consider if you are thinking about cellular blinds in your home or office.
Here are a few things to think about:
Style
While these are a convenient choice, they may not work with your design aesthetic depending on what you are looking for. One of the advantages of this style is its ability to pair with other window treatments to create the aesthetic you want.
Light
Cellular shades do not allow the control of light if the shade is entirely down. While some blinds allow light to be filtered in, and other blinds have a translucent appearance. Honeycomb blinds are very effective in keeping the light out.
Maintenance
Pleated shades are known to get dirty over a certain period and can look dingy if not properly cleaned. There is a special technique needed to clean these blinds and maintain their appearance over time. We provide information on how to keep these shades clean and pristine.

Routines & Changes
After the motorised roller blinds are installed and routines are created on timers, they can be reprogrammed as many times as needed. We equip our clients with the knowledge needed to meet their needs. Although a timer may be used, having the remote control close by is always suggested.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs about Motorised Blinds
You certainly can! In fact, battery motors are becoming more popular for roller blinds. They are very simple, reliable and no electrician is required. If your roller blinds were purchased from Complete Blinds in the last few years, you can even retrofit them to your existing roller blinds easily!
Automate® motors are mostly controlled from a remote control and can operate up to 15 motors from the one remote. However, at Complete Blinds, we recommend one remote per room for practical reasons. Another option is using the Automate® Pulse2 App. This is effectively a WI-FI based home automation.
Yes. Automate® motors are extremely effective on larger blinds. In fact, selecting motors for large blinds can be very practical as larger blinds can be heavier when lifting with a chain.
You will require an electrician if you select to have “hard-wired” motors. This is a great option when renovating or building a new house, as the wires can be prepared at this time. If you choose the convenience of battery motors, then no electrician is required, as they are wireless.
